Small SAP Talk. Running LSMW on Behalf of Another User

Most clients have explicit—or sometimes unwritten—rules for working in productive system(s). One such rule is the prohibition against consultants making any changes to master data, which, overall, aligns with common sense.

Let’s assume that, as a consultant, you need to perform a mass data upload using LSMW. The LSMW project is already prepared, and you're just about ready to run it, when you recall the production system rules and stop around step 12.

You pause because at step #13, the consultant is given the option to specify a user ID under which the subsequent data load will be executed.

It’s important to note that the user you specify must have the necessary authorizations for all operations and transactions used in your LSMW recording.

In the video clip below, the user YUSR01 does not have authorization to execute the transaction used in the LSMW recording.
